Far Niente’s stone winery went up in Oakville in 1885, sat abandoned through Prohibition, and was brought back to life by Gil Nickel in 1979. The estate has been a Napa benchmark ever since. This Cabernet blends fruit from Rutherford, Calistoga and St. Helena: 92 percent Cabernet Sauvignon rounded out with Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Petite Sirah and Petit Verdot, aged 17 months in 65 percent new French oak.
