Il Colombaio di Cencio farms 25 hectares around Gaiole in Chianti, the high heart of Chianti Classico between Siena and Florence. Founded in 1993 by German entrepreneur Werner Ernest Willhelm, the estate joined the Fontanafredda family in 2018 and now farms in organic conversion. The 2019 Riserva, Massi del Colombaio, is pure Sangiovese, hand harvested from three Gaiole sites and aged 24 months in large oak casks. 2019 was a strong Tuscan vintage.
