Gober & Freinbichler Vineyard Project Blaufrnkisch, Burgenland 2024

Dominique Gober and Gerald Freinbichler met when they worked together in the cellar of the famous Franz Weninger, one of Austria’s most celebrated producers. With Franzs encouragement, they decided to renovate an old garage winery and a few hectares of Blaufrnkisch vineyards, and the pair haven’t looked back since. The 2024 Gober & Freinbichler Blaufrnkisch has fruit from two villages in Burgenland, Neckenmarkt and Horitschon, exactly half from each. As with all their wines, this is a Blaufrnkisch that’s balanced and lifted, very much a departure from the fat, intense, heavy wines that have become the norm in this appellation. Organic.
