This is Andis ‘Painted Fields’ Sierra Cotes, the Rhone blend from Andis Wines in Plymouth, Amador County. Andy Friedlander and Janis Akuna founded the winery in 2009 and mashed their first names together for the label. The current 2022 release is 40% Syrah, 30% Grenache and 30% Mourvedre, made with consulting help from Philippe Melka’s Atelier Melka team. It pulled 91 points from both James Suckling and Wine Enthusiast. Sierra Foothills GSM at this price is quietly one of California’s best deals.
